MP3 Naming?

I tried searching, but didn't find the answer I was looking for.

How does the iPod display information?
Is it only from the ID3 tags?
Which version does it use? Which version is best to use?

I noticed when playing around with iTunes you can use different versions if ID3 tags, what are the differences?

I have about 200 GB of MP3's to verify proper name and ID3 tagging. What would be the best way to accomplish this? And yes this is relevant to the iPod as I hope to get one for X-Mas.

Also, what is the best naming convention for MP3's? (the actual name of the file on the computer) I would appreciate any info.

ok, not sure if i much help, have u tried serching forums, this bbeen posted a few times.

with youtr musci in itunes u can change the text that the ipod will show eg, artist, aldum, song etc.....

the id3 tags are useful if u have to change the tags, so if u change the album or name etc of an mp3 by changinfg the id3 tags it shall stay like how u have changed it.

not sure if tat helps much, but i would say use the search feature as stufff like this has been posted many a time

When playing a track, the display shows Title, Band, Album. The menus let you select by Genre and Composer as well.

The best program IMHO is mp3tag. Others like Tag&Rename.

iTunes/iPod don't really care about filenames, everything is based on the tags. If you let it, iTunes will reorganise folder and file names autmatically based on the tags.

Just a question. Why dosen't the search function work for me
