I'm currently testing the battery in my new iPod photo 60Gb. It's set to shuffle all songs, backlight is off, and volume is set to about 50% (it's in the middle of the volume bar). So far, it's been playing continuously, without interruption, for 10.5 hours and the battery icon indicates that it's still half full! I'll post back when it's finished.

Test is finished...It turns out my battery lasted exactly 16 hours before the iPod turned itself off & I began to recharge the battery. All in all, pretty good I'd say! That was my first full charge/discharge, so I wonder with more battery usage if the playback time will actually increase...

The 15-hour advertised battery life was one of the things that attracted me to the iPod photo, along with all the cool accessories!

I forgot to mention that during the test I had the "Sound Check" feature turned ON. Not sure how much this helped or hurt the outcome...

Sound Check is supposed to hurt both quality (loud parts may distort/crackle--though some may like it) AND battery life. Thanks for the test report!

I doubt I'll ever even THINK about battery on my iPod Photo. It has so much more life than I'll ever need.

When you do these tests, do you leave your headphones plugged in? I think different headphones will draw different amounts of power. It would be interesting to see if that makes a difference. I probably charge my iPod photo really often, but it has never come near to even halfway decharged, in my day to day travels.

No, I didn't leave the headphones plugged in while doing the test...might have to give that a try sometime.
