Mac ipod on windows format problem

Hello! I recently got a 2G ipod mac formatted and been using it without problem with xplay, i decided to windows format and then starts the problems, i follow the instruction to restore the ipod with the 1.3 sofware update but it always stopped unfinished and since then the ipod shows a folder icon with an exclamation point, i tried to format the ipod with windows utility (big error!, i know) and now i'm stuck with the icon, what can i do, i have read that the only way is to reformat the ipod with mac disk utility but i dont own a mac, there's no other windows way to do this? I??m running windows xp.

You need to "restore" the iPod and not format it. Put it in disk mode and connect to the updater and click 'restore'.
