I read a review on (CNET) :
http://ecoustics-cnet.com.com/Apple_iPod_Photo__60GB_/4514-6490_7-31201014.html

that it's not possible on the iPod Photo to browse thru your pictures while listening to music, and that the ONLY way to view pics while playing music is in slideshow mode.

Is this really true? I vaguely recall when I was visiting an Apple Store last week being able to browse thru pictures manually, while concurrently playing music. Was I just dreaming?

The principal reason I'm interested in purchasing the iPod Photo is that I want to store a collection of jpeg pictures of each artists & musician performing on the songs in my iPod, and be able to not only link specific song playlists to a specific group of pictures which would appear as a slideshow while the song playlist plays, but to also listen to a custom song playlist & be able to concurrently explore & manually view any & all pictures stored on the iPod as well. Ipod Photo owners: Please tell me if this is possible.

Thanks,

Scotty

they are defintley wrong about that...

But I am not sure if you can save multiple slideshows, cause you have to pick a playlist for a slideshow, but it doesnt seem that you can setup multiples, only one. I could defintley be wrong though...you could just get to the folder of a particular artists pics and then go through the slideshow setup menu to change the playlist for whatever artist youve choosen...I really havent fooled around too much with it yet.

The slideshow is sweet, looks great on a widescreen TV, it has a little slide wipping as it goes through pics...I recommend it, I could get more use out of it.

They are wrong. You can browse pics when listening to music.

When manually browsing your photos, whatever is currently playing will continue to play, so the short answer is that you can listen to music while browsing your pictures.

However, once in the Photo menus, your Prev/Next Track buttons will not function for your playlist (they're remapped to show prev/next pictures). Also, pressing the Play/Pause button once will stop whatever is currently playing, and pressing it a second time will start a slideshow.

So while you can listen to whatever is currently playing, don't expect to be able to start/stop or advance tracks without returning back to the main menu.

In slideshow mode, whatever you are currently playing will be stopped in favour of the selected playlist. If no playlist is selected, the music just stops.

Unfortunately, in answer to your last question, you can only select a single playlist to be played during any slideshow -- you can't automatically assign different playlists to different photo albums (although you can of course change the playlist manually between slideshows by returning to the slideshow settings menu on your iPod).
