ok so i am the proud owner of a new 60 gig photo ipod. i have been highly reluctant to open the box, however, because i wanted to wait for a quality case to come out before using the new machine, so as not to risk any scratches on my $600 investment. alas, i have grown impatient while waiting for the 'skin' producers to complete their products and i have heard good things from people who have used the vaja products, so i thought i'd try to get some feedback on vaja's new i-volution case for the photo ipod (the $70 one) here are my questions:
does the vaja case provide a screen protector and if so what is the quality of the screen protector? can anyone provide me with a pic?
can the vaja case be used with an itrip?
what are people's opinions of the beltclip? is it safe? worth adding on? does it function properly?
and lastly, does this case offer ample protection for the ipod?
i would appreciate ANY feedback from vaja people - the more the merrier, especially if someone can tell me why, specifically, they prefer these cases over the 'skins' lines.
THANK YOU!

Congratulations!!

It does have a plastic screen protector which is adequate to protect the screen against scratches. However, it will not protect the screen from breaking if impacted. I have not taken any photo's at all but there are many posted on the board.

I do not use an iTrip but I am told it is no problem.

I got the belt clip on mine I feel it is the best of the best currently available. I wish Vaja would not have done away with the rivet clip but I am very satisfied with the Ultra Clip. I do not worry at all when carrying on my belt.

Yes. Again, it does not make the iPod indestructable by any means but it offers much more protection that a skin ever could. A severe impact while in the case would surely damage the iPod in some way. The front is slightly padded and the case is pretty rigid so I imagine it would stand up pretty well under normal wear and tear situations.

I think it's the best case on the market. At $70.00 ($94.00 with shipping and the ultra clip) it is kind of overpriced but it's what the market bears. I ordered mine and had it within 10 days. I've never used a skin simply because I wanted the extra protection a leather case gives me. I don't care much about the bulk since I rarely carry it in my pocket. The Vaja suited all my needs and I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase it, despite the hefty price tag.

thank you SO much for your excellent and timely feedback! what is your feeling on the open top of the case? i fear scratching up the top of the ipod... has that been a problem for you - or for anyone else for that matter? also, is the screen protector integrated into the case, or is it a seperate item? thanks again!

one last question... are there different TYPES of belt clips for the vaja? what is the highest quality? i keep hearing the terms 'ultimate' and 'ultra'. are these clips the same thing?

Vaja Ultra clip info here:

AFAIK, this is the only belt-clip option currently available on the Vaja cases. I think there used to be a different clip offered, but the Ultra clip appears to be the only one available now.

I also have some questions about this fabolous looking case:
1. Is there any kind of heat dissemination? Doesn't the iPod get too hot when charging?
2. Is it easy to get the iPod in and out of the case? I take my iPod to work (in a case) and after work I use the dock to connect the line-out to my hifi system, so I need to get my beloved iPod in/out of the case almost every day.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

1. you're 'supposed' to take the iPod out of the case when charging, but i do anyway since i use the dock to charge overnight.
2. at first you'll find the fit very snug, and may have to push up from the bottom of the case (where the cutout for the dock connector is) but then after you get used to it, it is easy enough to pull it out from the top.
i'm glad i finally got one :)
I have a question about the aesthetics of vaja case.
When I first got my 40gb ipod, I bought iskin (arctic) and wasn't so happy with it. I found that it made my ipod look bulkier and uglier. (no offense to those that really like iskin.) I felt that I really liked the sleek look of the ipod sans case, but I was scared about scratches.
Now the vaja cases look great. I was wondering if it really bulks the ipod's thickness (especially the bigger models - 40gb or 60gb) up a whole lot. It looks padded (and perhaps thicker than iskin), but the photos manage to make it look sleek. Compared to the iskin, is the vaja a whole lot more bulkier? Is it noticeable in the general look?
Yes, I know, it is all very superficial. Other than the look and bulk, I am pretty happy with the iskin. The grip feels really nice. I guess I care about the bulk because I wanted to clip it to my pants pocket and I don't want it to be too bulky. (Is that an ipod in your pocket or are you really happy to see me? har har har. erm.)
It isn't SO important, but I want a case that preserves the minimalistic utilitarian beauty of the ipod.
