I just recieved an email from the wonderful support team at Apple, telling me that my COMPLIMENTRY 90 FREE IPOD SUPPORT WAS ABOUT TO EXPIRE and asking me to purchase an extended support blah blah blah. Did I miss something?!?! Why was I never notified of this wonderful FREE support for my Ipod before?! after spending countless hours searching through forums all over the net (by the way - this is by far the best forum out there!!) to solve the various problems I encountered, I now find out about this mysterious FREE SUPPORT?! This blows me away, frusturates me, and overall really scratches me in the wrong way- I love my Ipod, iTunes, and airport express....but with the money I spent on all these- I really do wish Apple put a little bit of elbow grease in notifiying this consumer of this free support. If anyone would like to see a copy of this e-mail just ask me, happy to forward it on...but save both our time and call 1-800-971-2775 (the number they gave me to order thiswonderful service) and express your outrage!!

apple's jsut spamming you to get the extended care warranty. i've gotten the same type of emails for my ipod, ape and even an xserve we bought to evaluate for work.

apple warranties the hardware for a year, but only answer the phone gratis for 90 days unless you cough up 59 bucks (for the ipod). then they will answer the phone and repair/replace for 2 years and they'll replace the battery if it holds less than 50% charge (only during the 2 years). since i'm a bad battery manager, i figured what the fsck.

apple, tho - they do spam me lots even tho i pretty dilligently opted out when ever given the chance...

dunno, i bought the ape and ipod online so i can see how they'd harvest the email there, but we called to get the xserve - and truthfully, i can't remember if they asked me for an email address.

the funny thing about gettting emails related to the xserve is that we returned it about 30 days after it was delivered (we finished our verification/validation). if you're into ia, the funnier thing is that we did okay getting a kinda sorta, it would never be accredited, but it was still pretty cool to do, got it capp1.d compliant, but a lotta stuff just didn;t work anymore. apple, man, get your stuff validated - it would be more fun to play with than a lot of the other stuff i get to touch.

The emails will be generated if you were silly enough to "register" your iPod as asked when you installed the software initially.

so you didn't read those pieces of paper that were in the box with your iPod?

;)

apple used to have free support for life, I got a check for about $13 after a class action lawsuit against apple a few years ago after they took away support for their computers. woo hoo!

Was the term "AppleCare" mentioned. If not, then it should be ignored.

If you read all the material that came with your iPod you would have known about the telephone support and the fact that your iPod has a one year warrenty with Apple.

Apple didn't do anything to you. You were simply poorly informed.
