Hi peoples, I'm new here so please excuse all my 'newbie' questions.

I just bought a new iPod(10GB) but use Windows 98SE. How can I use the iPod (to transfer MP3s from my computer to iPod) while running Windows98SE?

I'v installed a PC Firewire port/card on my comp and have downloaded EphPod, xPlay, and the firewire patch from Microsoft as well.

When I run xPlay it says: No iPod is connected. (on the iPod screen) even tho it is connected with Firewire.

When I run EphPod it won't recognize my iPod as a drive so I'm lost.

Can somebody(s) PLEASE offer me some help on this whole iPod vs. Windows98SE ordeal. I just want to be able to transfer my MP3s from computer to iPod. Thanks for everyones time and patience because of me in here...

Other than that.......... could be the firewire card.

Basically, no program would work until iPod is visible as a drive for Windows. Some FireWire cards doesn't work correctly with iPod (i.e. SoundBlasters).
Maybe you could check USB connection? It works flawlessly for me (with driver from http://www.mhobot.w.pl/ipod ).

Yes it is possible to get the ipod to work with Windows 98 SE try using MusicMatch Jukebox to transfer the music to the iPod (hopefully it will recogise the ipod) and you have to use a firewire connection cos it wont pick up with USB

What do you mean by "wont pick up with USB"?

I mean that if you try to plug in the iPod via USB on windows 98/ME it simply wont work. To get it to work you will have to use a program like MusicMatch Jukebox and connect the iPod via a Firewire connection

Mine (4G 20GB) works flawlessly with Windows 98 with USB driver mentioned above.
Maybe your USB port doesn't work correctly?

I've never used MisicMatch. Both Winamp and RealPlayer have plugins for iPod so I stick to programs I know.
