I am at my wits end and ready to abandon my efforts to make my new (and first) iPOD work. The installation has been successful and I was even able to succesfully download once. But since 2 days, no luck. I have restored twice in addition to unistalling and installing.
MusicMatch, on those rare occasions, when it is able to activate the "portable device" is unable to download and gives me the message that the iPOD is full although there is nothing on it.
I also get the message at the bottom right hand corner of the screen that says: i Windows__Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\iPod_Control. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
My I on a IBM Thinkpad A22m, using Win XP and a Firewire Cardbus Adaptor.
I need help. I am not very computer savvy.

I would ditch MMJB as soon as possible.

Download Media center 9. You will find a forum on this site which has a link to the download and also a comprehensive help file.

You them need to follow the instructions for installing and you will need to reformat the ipod to use with MC9. I would also uninstall MMJB.

I don't think you will have any more problems. You do need to pay for MC9 it is 40US$.

Cheers,

Paul

Since I am not very proficient at this, before I undertake this challenge, I would appreciate any feedback on people's experience with using Media center 9 for iPOD

Well, MC9 IMO is the best iPod tool out there.

But, you've got potentially bigger issues. Delayed Write failures are almost always the fault of a firewire card that doesn't work well w/the iPod.

You can try a test. Uninstall the MMJB iPod plugin, uninstall iPod Manager (it's not needed and can cause connection problems), and grab a big hunk of MP3 files (say about 300) and copy them to the iPod using My Computer/Explorer. Just make a temporary folder on the iPod drive (name it "test" or whatever) and paste the files in there.

This will test your firewire card. If you don't get any Disk Write errors this way, then try MC9, ephpod or Xplay. But I'm willing to bet you will. If you do, try a different card.

What kind are you using btw?
