Hi,

I have a big problem right here, when i try to transfer data files from my ipod using it as an hard disk, I get an I/O device error. (I can browse my ipod by windows explorer, and transfer data files to it, but i can't transfer them back to my computer, so I get that I/O device error message)

I hope someone can help me...

btw, my specs are: 4G iPod 20GB, P4 1.9Ghz, 512 RAM, 60GB HDD, Windows XP SP2

What kind of files are they? If you dragged-n-dropped the files onto the HD, then you should be able to do the same in reverse.

If they are music files then you need to use some 3rd party app to do the transfer.

When you open the iPod HD do you go to:
start>my computer>iPod HD and click it open, then try to drag the files from the HD and get the I/O error?

Are the files inside of another folder on the iPod HD?
Also you can connect the iPod and change it over to 'manual' and see if you can transfer the files then.

tks for replying :)

I can drag-n-drop files (.doc, .jpeg etc) to the iPod via start>my computer>iPod HD and click it open without any kind of error, but when i do the reverse (iPod to my hard disk) i get (very) slow transfers and sometimes the I/O device error. :(

btw, my iPod is set to manual.

I'd check USB cable, hub and drivers.
