View Full Version : New iPod Buffer Size
I've read somewhere that old iPod contains 32 Mb buffer.
Does anybody know what is the size of buffer in the new iPod?
Does the new one have more powerful processor?
Why don't Apple release the same software for old iPods as for new ones?
Thanx.
Does anybody know something about it?

Previously I had the same question, so I went to Apple's website and yes, indeed, the new gen 3's have the same size buffer 32 mb.
For some reason, though I cannot find the link. You can call Apple and check.

Adam,
Question, if it has a 32MB buffer, why does it skip when shocked? It seems to me that the hard drive should be able to fill the buffer very quickly and not be prone to skipping. Is there a setting to enable it? Or should it not skip?

mine doesn't skip when shocked. If the hard drive is really shocked, I guess it could shut down the iPod when it goes to read the hard drive after the buffer is emptied.

What kind of 'shock' are you putting it through to make it skip??

A quick (abrubt) shake of the IPod....Only one....
It hiccups...if it has a buffer, this shouldn't happen...
