I went down to the Apple store today to replace my iPod battery, and while he was registering it on his computer or some crap I took some time to look at some apple products.
First thing I needed to see was the iPod Photo.
Now I compared my 15gb 3RD gen iPod to a 40 gb iPod photo...to my suprise...
THE IPOD PHOTO WAS LIGHTER!!
I dunno how, at first I thought it was a tacky shop model that was made of plastic, but no it worked, everything was in order. It was freaky, how could it be lighter?
Another note, the 30 inch displays apple are making are amazing, same with the powerbooks!

well more techonolgy and really all that is more is the harddrive and their has ben tuns of time to lighten that up because the screen is really not all that different
also they may have made the case thinner to make it lighter but that is just a guess (way to cheepen things up)

They iPod photo they showed me was thicker, but it was lighter than my iPod.
Also, another thing the quality is excellent!
Don't let people tell you other wise.
I was looking at the screen when it was in the menu, and I was like, hmmm no big deal then I saw some custom pictures that were in there, and god, was the quality great!!
But still, I dunno if I will buy one.

Well
I live in Melbourne, And i went to the Applecentre in Whitehorse.
They had all the Powerbooks on display
All the iBooks on display
2 G5's
One 30 inch Display
But no iPod.
So i asked if they had any that I could look at and he brought it out to me...
They only has 40gb in stock though, no 60 gb...
When I picked it up, it truly felt like i was holding a plastic fake of an iPod. it was really light!

Yeah, go to the Huge Apple Store in the city opposite the ACMI in federation square. They are sure to have some in on display
Yea I really like the ipod photo. It only costs a little more than the 4g 40gb ipod. It's well worth the upgrade. The screen is nice and clear and the color is just amazing. I put some pics on it and the quality is great. 65k colors is equivalent to high end cell phones so thats good. The new ipods are all quite light. The 4g 20gb is very thin and light. The ipod photo is great and don't let ne1 else tell u otherwise. I have not yet had a problem with it.

Well the thing is though.....I just can't see my self sitting on the bus on the way to school looking at pics..
But I am one of those people that usually gets carried away when something that APPEARS Big is released...but this time i realise that I really don't NEED it.

i like the idea of the colour screen and being able to see the album art, but i hope ipods don'y beome like mobile phones and have cameras and stuff like that, it should focus on being th best music player around!

I agree -- I really don't want video, or whatnot. What I want in an iPod is good simplicity -- play music, play it well.
Feature-wise, I wouldn't mind Apple selling some downloadable games for it, up to and including some RPGs -- stuff that is about equal to what the original GameBoy did. However, I don't know if the iPod's controls can take the repeated hammering a Gameboy is designed to take.

I live in the chicago subarbs and so I went to an apple store in woodfield mall where ipoPs were on display, However, a day later, I was downtown and the apple store on Michigan. They didn't have any on display, but they were selling them and had stacks of ipod photo boxes.

They dont show the iPods in store like the show the Laptops.
You have to ask them. They are usually out back.
