i just got a 4G 40 gig HP/Ipod...i want to get an armband/case and found this one:

Speck 4G Armband/Skin (http://www.welovemacs.com/4garm01.html)

Any experience with it? It is an armband and they give you a free SkinTight Skin with it. I haven't seen reviews on this skin/armband and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it.

I've looked over several reviews and was about to buy the Teski Roadie (based on the Buyers Guide Recomendation) but then realized that it was a 3G case that would fit the 4G...

i just want a good case/armband combo...

Did you hear anything about this one? I am also interested in this.

no input on it...i have e-mailed speck because their website (http://www.speckproducts.com/4g-armband/index.htm) has typo's on it about this being for the mini...someone wrote me back and said it was full of typos and she tried to tell them a while ago to fix the site...she said it is for the 4g and that it would fit the 40 gig "great".

I was just about to buy it - wish i had more input on someone that has bought one before, but maybe nobody has...

well, i got this combo a couple of days ago and i'm pretty happy with it...i haven't had a chance to use it for working out / jogging yet, but have worn it for a while to see how comfortable it is and i'm pleased with the armband.

The skin is pretty good, although it doesn't close all the way on the back - but this is a small tradoff to have it so you can put it into the dock with the skin on (you flip the skin forward to dock)...it doesn't protect the screen, but again - it was free with the armband

The armband "snaps" on and off and is very sturdy and the band itself is pretty thick...this might bother some people, but it seems more secure when it is on my arm with it being as wide as it is...

I did spend the extra money to order it from Speck instead of welovemacs because Speck will accept returns for any reason no matter what and WeLoveMacs discouraged me from the beginning when i was worried if it would fit my 40Gig - the person on the phone said, "it should fit" and when i asked him if it didn't could i return it he said, "we don't like returns"...

if you have any questions or want to see pictures, let me know...

Does anyone know if I could purchase this Speck Armband and then use my ISkin or Lajo exo3 .7mm skin with it? I love how it simply snaps in and out of the armband holder, but I don't particularly like the skin it comes with and I already own two different other skins.

I just don't want to purchase it without knowing whether it will fit or not. Thanks!

I too would love to know if it would fit in the exofbflp 2mm thick i think.

here is a bit more info - hopefully to help you decide...

I did have a problem with the Armband i got (the glue holding the Velcro gave way)...i called Speck and talked with Amy Cesari and she was awesome...she was the reason i went with this company - because she said that their return policy is (and i am quoting her directly)

We do have the best return policy around, if you order from our store we'll take anything back, anytime, any condition!

And she meant it...the first thing she did was apologize for the problem and tell me that i could either get a full refund, or she would send me out another armband right away and would continue to send me replacements until i got one that worked...the reiterated on the phone what she had said in the e-mail (and she didn't know i was the same person) - i will keep at this until you are completely happy or you can get your money back - but i want you to be happy with us.

I got the new armband and e-mailed her to ask what she wanted me to do with the armband and skin i had before (the skin is still fine) and she said i could keep them and hoped the new one would work out well.

I don't know if the new armband will work or not, but they have a very happy customer with them and i will continue to try new ones until one works because it is a cool band.

So, you are safe knowing if you order from the company directly that if it doesn't fit your skin then you can get your money back...or, i can send this broken band out to someone to see if it fits their unit...

I believe it would work with pretty much any skin because of the way it wraps around the unit/skin. It comes with a spacer for the 20 gig unit, so it is made native to the 40 gig...

Hey jaredean I sent you a PM about the broken band...thanks for explaining your story.

Anyone else with any experience with the product?

I too would love to hear if this works with the Lajo case...I'd love to have an armband I could use without having to remove my ipod from the Lajo skin every time I want to use it. If this combination works, I'd probably go to the gym about 400% more often than I do presently.

Okay, so jaredean was kind enough to ship me his broken Speck 4G armband. I was able to use a bit of superglue to fix the broken velcro, so I am just hoping that keeps it working for a while...we'll see about that. So, here are the results:

Iskin (2.0 mm): It seems to fit in there just fine, but the only problem is that it is a bit tight....the skin actually bunches up a bit when inserted into the armband clip. Still, it does the job just fine and will definitely stay in the clip while lifting weights/ running, etc....

Lajo xSkn Exo3 (.7 mm): I actually like this skin more than the Iskin I have because it is oh so thin. However, it is too thin to be used as the skin for this armband case. I would not be comfortable running or working out with the Ipod utilizing a combination of this skin and the Speck armband. I think it might fall out...not a good thing.

So, my new plan is to purchase the Lajo Exo3x, which is 1.2 mm thick. I believe this will be the perfect size for the armband and I like the smoothness of the Lajo skins better than the Iskin. I am pretty sure that this will be the perfect combination.

I want to thank jaredean for being so kind as to send me his old armband for the testing.

Let me know if there are any more questions.

Hey just to let everyone know an update...the fixed armband is holding up just fine (it doesn't seem like it will break again anytime soon) and using the 2.0mm Iskin with it is working great. I have actually found a way to evenly put the Ipod with skin into the armband clip and I no longer get any bunching up. So, I can say that these thicker, popular skins do indeed work with the armband.

Let me know if there are any more questions...

Speck cases stink. It already scratched up the back on my new ipod. Is their anything that can remove those scratches.

Well with this armband you can't really scratch the back of the Ipod because it is in a skin as well.

Sorry to hear about your scratches, though...
