At home I have a 5 year old PC, Pentium 2 450, with an Abit BX6r2 motherboard.
I've tried two different Firewire cards and one USB 2.0 card, but none would work with my ipod. The iPod does work over USB 1, but as expected it's too slow.
Luckily my work PC is much faster but I'd like to use my iPod with my slow home PC - does anyone have any Firewire or USB 2.0 PCI card recommendations?
Thanks

It runs a web browser, Word, plays DVDs, I can watch TV on it, it does everything I want except iPod. But it should be able to.
I'm sick of computer salesman telling me to upgrade. Having wasted thousands of dollars over the years on computers and upgrading I decided no more.

It obviously doesn't fit your needs anymore. A P450 isn't going to accept a USB2 or firewire card without protest, and if it does work, your machine will probably be straining itself to keep a decent transfer rate going. Just because you are sick of hearing people telling you to upgrade doesn't mean they are wrong. ;)

yeah I'd upgrade, that thing is a piece lol
It may be a question of the motherboard not having all PCI slots capable of bus mastering. On earlier motherboards (going back to P90 days!) usually only the number one or two PCI slot was capable of bus mastering. Try putting the Firewire or USB 2.0 card in the number one PCI slot.
If you don't know which one that is it is usually the top slot in a tower system or the one closest to the centre of the board in a desk top configuration.
Having said all that an upgrade would be a better choice in the long run.
