Hi,
I have an ipod which I intially setup to use my work comp then got home and updated it with my home comp. Both worked fine, but now my work home compuer won't recoginse it on Itunes. It shows me the alert on the bottom right hand corner saying i have usb mass storgage Item but i can't see it on Itunes and i Have disconnected and reconnected many times but no luck. Also is there a way of accessing the harddrive manually?
Also I heard u should be able to see the Ipod with My computer, well I can't see that either. Apple why or why do u have to make everything simple so complicated????

you guys are so unhelpful! STOP POSTING THAT LINK!we ALL know about it, and it's not helping us solve our problem. There are a ton of people here that can't get their ipod to snyc, however it still charges. Can you help us with that?

I am also having this problem (3rd g ipod on windows xp (usb connection)). Ipod recognised on work computer and laptop no problems. Was also recognised on new home PC until last week. Succesfully copied all music from ipod onto new PC. Shortly after, had to have a small repair during which "bios was reset" whatever that means.

Please help!! Can't listen to my new music!:(

After reading through loads of threads, all with the same problems I spent an evening trying lots of different things. Then something worked!! I unplugged all USB devices and plugged in ipod only. Now shows up in my computer and in itunes. BUT when I click on a tune, nothing happens except an exclamation mark appears instead of the speaker icon. No tunes can be transfered to the ipod (I use manual update).

I then plugged all other USB devices back in and on restart of itunes, ipod is no longer there and no longer recognised. If I had any hair I would have ripped it out by now!!!

Will try again tonight and will post results. Keep your fingers crossed.

SUCCESS!!!

I removed USB devices one at a time and found that ipod clashes with or doesn't like my small USB hub!

That's all there was too it.

Hope this is of help to someone, but there seem to be hell of a lot of different problems out there.

Glad to see at least one person got this figured out. I use a firewire card, and all my music is stored on an external usb 2.0 hard drive. Thus, this really won't help me personally.

Anyone have any suggestions?
