ok, i'm listening away on the way to work to a standard VBR mp3 and my new 15 gig winpod, purchased in the UK, v2.0.1 randomly hangs on the playback screen. It had a fullish battery and I see no reason why it should've happened. I had to reboot to get it back.
Hasn't happened before and hasn't happened since.
Has this happened to anyone else ?
Should I be worried ?

Was it possible that you jarred the iPod? Shook it somehow? I wouldn't worry about it. From time to time they will lock up.

Yes it's possible that I jarred it I suppose. I was on a train after all. As I say it's the only time it's happened so I'm not too concerned.
Wonder how this will afect my plans to take it snow boarding in the winter time ! :-)

Don't! Really, don't. A nice jar at just the wrong time will mess things up. You wouldn't strap your PC on your back and take it snowboarding would you? ;)
