Someone please help, this is really starting to baffle me. My 10GB iPOD will no longer connected to my XP Pro machine, but my 5 GB will, when i plug in the 10GB, the apple logo comes up, and then the folder with an exclamation point comes up, and then it gives the checkmark, and says OK to disconnect, someone please help!!! I leave for vacation in a few days and I really need my iPOD to work!!

Try putting the 10GB into forced firewire mode. Do a reset, then at the Apple logo press FF and Rew until OK to Disconnect comes up, then connect it.
If it doesn't connect, right click on My Computer, select Properties, then on the Hardware tab, then click the "Device Manager" button. Right-click the top item (your computer) and select "Scan for New Hardware"). See if it finds it.
If it doesn't, it sounds like your iPod may be somewhat sick.

It sounds like you iPod is sick.
You can try a disk scan. Do a reset, at the Apple logo press the "Previous" "Next" "Select" and "Menu" buttons at the same time.
A disk scan logo will come up as it scans the HDD for problems. If it ends w/a Sad iPod icon, you need to send it in for repair.

Ok, I did the disk check, and it came back successful (the disc with a checkmark).

All right! Well, that's good news. Er, now what do we do?
Try this little trick. Open up the Apple Updater program (w/o the iPod connected). Then connect the iPod. See if it "grabs" it. Sometimes that does the trick.
Is this a 2gen 10giger or a 3gen?
The other thing to try is to make sure to uninstall the "iPod Software" and (if you have it) the MMJB iPod Plugin. Not sure what program you use to upload.....
