Does anyone know if there is a way (or piece of software) that will allow iTunes to run a script automatically when it is opened, or when an iPod gets connected?

I have a script from Doug's collection for iTunes that syncs a playlist with my iPod, but I'm looking for a way to have the script run whenever iTunes opens and/or when I attach my iPod. I've played with iPod Launcher but can't get it to do this.

Any ideas? Thanks!

One could create a stay-open script, say that was activated on startup, that waited for iTunes to be activated, or waited for iPod to appear as a drive, and fired a script. I dunno, tho. [Thinking out loud] This could be saved as an application bundle and its plist edited so it didn't appear in the Dock--so as to run invisibly in the background. Hmmm. Interesting idea. This stay-opn invisible script would have to be hard-coded to run another particular script, but it could be done. I'll think on it some.

The genesis of my question is that I subscribe to a few MP3 audio "podcasts" using iPodderX that get automatically downloaded and put into their own playlist in iTunes. Since I connect my iPod to my PowerBook every day, I thought it would be great if iTunes would automatically add those playlists (or inclusive Smart Playlists that I make) and the associated MP3's to my iPod automatically.

I'd rather not have my iPod set for Auto-Sync since I want the flexibility to manually manage my music library. Since those podcasts get downloaded every day, the benefits of syncing just them automatically seems like a great luxury.
