Okay, I need to decide between these to for Christmas. People say that the iM3 sound is really bad at high volumes, but the onstage doesnt have as many features. I need to know how bad the sound quality really is at high volumes for each, is it noticeable? I will probably be using these the play during get togethers on the weekends with people and also play in hotel rooms.

there is no definitive here, sorry.

Basically:
If you need battery power or a remote, get the iM3
If you don't, get the OnStage

From everything I have read the JBL's sound a good deal better than the iM3's.

The speakers you want to compare are in different leagues...

iM's are battery powered, and so therefore will not be half as good quality as some that are mains powered. Thus enabling louder, higher quality sound.

I own the iM's, and the sounds is bliss, but anything that runs of the mains will be better
