View Full Version : 4th gen 20 gig ipod $140

i have for sale a 4th gen 20 gig ipod. it was won in a pepsi promotion contest and i don't need it since i already have the 40 gig 4th gen and a ipod mini.
it's still sealed in the box and ready to go. i'm not going to waste time and what not by asking $300 or more for it since i know i would get offers lowballing me anyway so i'm just going to go for a low price to help sell it fast. it will help put money in my pocket that i spent on my 40 gig ...... i prefer to get payment using paypal as that way i can mail out the ipod quickly and not have to worry about running around to banks trying to cash a money order or personal cheque.
easy and simple for both parties. the asking price also includes shipping .... i think my price for a new unused 4th gen is extremely good and i doubt it will be around long.
i'm not going any cheaper than my asking price of $140 american so please do not bother to Pm me asking if i wll go lower and i'm not open to trades.
the paypal payment should be from a balance and not done using a credit card since i have been having problems accepting payments made by credit card as it won't complete the transaction. payments from a balance already there seem to be going through ok .....
thanks

Do you have any feedback on ebay?
zamboni78
10-27-2004, 01:26 AM
i have a feedback rating of 1 as i just signed up there about 3 weeks ago and haven't bought anything but a soccer jersey so far.
but what does that have to do with ipodlounge ?

since there's no way of verifying you on iPodlounge, it is common for people to rely partially on ebay feedback.
however it does not mean that you and the interested parties cannot work out some other mutually agreeable method of 'trust'.
good price btw and welcome to the lounge :)

Hi, I'll by your iPod! Also, like you, I live in Canada, so shipping will be much cheaper, and there will be no customs fee.
As for pics, I think a good idea is to take a pic with you and the iPod, and you doing something unusual like waving or something. That way, we know that the picture is uniquely yours, and it gives proof that you own the iPod.
Thanks,

ok, sorry for not replying as i was sick and just didn't have the energy to sit at my computer.
i do have about 2 serious buyers interested so it's kind of pending depending on which of them is actually going to buy it. i do not have a digital camera or a scanner so those who would like pics i dunno what to say. i have a friend that has a cell phone with a camera on it and a scanner so i will see what i can do about having him help me with pics.
and to those offering more money .... WHY ??? all i'm asking is $140. it was won in a contest and therefore none of my own money was spent on it. i'm just trying to give those who can't afford one from the apple store or a re-seller that is charging $300 + a chance to get one at a reasonable price. so you offering me more money isn't going to sway me ..... i'm not greedy.
i'm hoping that i can sell it before monday as my job has me on the road and i don't have constant access to the net, so i can't keep checking back to see if i have PM's or emails. so i would like to do a paypal deal and then have it in the mail to the buyer monday so that it's done and completed.
thanks

140 is very cheap. hell, i just bought my 3g 10gb ipod a few weeks ago (for 180 w/shipping), and i'd buy it. that's very cheap. maybe that's why they're trying to verify your feedback.

i bet your located in Nigeria, anyone who sends this guy money is an IDIOT.
This is a little suspicious guys. No human being would ask for $140 for something when they could EASILY get 300... no matter who the person or what the item is. Even if he did "win" the ipod from a pepsi sweepstake I would still sell it for its real cost... Just be careful

I don't know this guy, but I will vouch for the Pepsi iPod promotion - they are giving away an iPod an hour from October until Christmas.

So, the part about winning an iPod may be true - the contest definitely exists. As far as the offer? Caveat Emptor comes to mind. Could be legit, though.

to those crying scam i would appreciate it if you would keep those comments to yourself. i don't think you would like it if people like yourselves came into your post and threadcrapped on it like you just did to mine.
and yeah .. to be honest, if i didn't already have my 40 gig and the mini i would be asking about $300 easily. but as i mentioned before i already have 2 other ipods and don't need a third .... so i'm selling it cheap. i din't know it was a crime to ask lower than the going rate on one .... i guess i have to be greedy like you doubters and threadcrappers and get as much as i can. then i guess you would believe i do have one for sale since it would be expensive instead of affordable for those that are on a tight budget and can't afford the highlife like you G5 mac users out there.
get a life .... and while you are at it get the hell out of my posting. you obviously don't want it so why are you in here adding you unwanted 2 cents ? because i never asked for it .....

I think I will go to Best Buy, buy an ipod for $300 and come back home and take a picture of me with it (all while waving at the camera) then post it on here for sale at $140. When someone wires me the money through paypal I simply return the ipod to Best Buy. I'm $140 richer while the "buyer" is left wondering where the hell their ipod is cause they saw a picture of me with it.

i can understand some people being a bit skeptical about this sale, but if you're not going to post anything constructive then please don't.
any buyers interested please make sure you do your homework and take adequate precautions - if you have any questions then ask.

Anyway, what I said was funny.......
Funny to you mabbe, shows YOUR frame of mind.
Give the person a chance, instead of our jumping on him like a bunch of hyenas....
So is it sold yet? Becuase i've pm'd you and your not replying.

Stop being so sensitive, everyone makes jokes at suspicious posts. It's your duty as a thread starter to make sure you sound credible. If you don't, you WILL get torn apart and you better be able to handle it.
Obviously this guy isn't responding to any private messages. What does that tell you?
Fokking dawgs, we are. He isnt replying because we have ravished his self-esteem?

only on this forum do people constantly put down what people are selling. I made a thread selling an iSkin and one of the first replies that I got was telling me how the iSkin gets dirty too easily. ONLY on this forum has it occured, and I belong to numerous other forums that aren't related to iPods. the way some of you people act here is beyond me. I've only been on this forum a month or two and I can tell you that I'm already annoyed by the general attitude a lot of the people who post here have. I'll be removing this site from my favorites.

I agree that stuff like someone not helping you sell your item (by giving their opinion) is inappropriate and annoying. This is just not the case in this thread. This is not my opinion but rather my intuition. The only time I have made cracks were when the thread starters were compeltely suspicious. Such as the iPod for my sister in Iraq post.
So anyway, if this is such a good deal let's hear from the lucky buyer. Surely at $140 someone must have bought this new iPod!

i'm sorry that's how you feel, but given the nature of this site and wide audience, there is little that can be done to prevent it, other than educating members to be a bit more considerate.
anyway zamboni may be busy trying to sell/trade his iMac as well so we may not hear from him for a while yet.
however it'll be closed in a few days if nothing eventuates - it's not considerate either to string people along after what looks like a bargain.

This does not sound good....scam scam scam...
Another thing I learned along with this letter below...
This guy was a NEW seller!
BIG FLAG>>>WHEN SELLING BIG ITEMS!!!!
p...I am the victim of scam too....and ya know...I just FELT it was going to happen...again tooooooo good to be true
Found this sale at Amazon.com....Ipod 40gm 4th gen new...$250.
Contacted him via Amazon..inquiring about the REAL THING and if I could get 3 of em....
Then he preferred to use Western Union for that transaction. One not famililar with Western Union and two....feeling bad vibes...but hooked by desire.
Settled on Paypal for the transaction. $750....he did respond back after the payment that day that I would have em in 10 days...and plus said he had 4 more for any of my friends....grin
10 days went by....15...20....I saw that it was a UK Hotmail acct...cut him some slack....but oh yeah....he is not answering any of my emails...duh....and he had 2 email addresses we corresponded with that day.....oh dear
So since then have contacted Paypal...and well..of course they did not find any money left in his account....and I contacted my credit card to see what they could do.
Since then,,,I have seen at Overstock.com auction site and at Ebay sellers of inexpensive Ipods....and during the course of their listing...the companies cancel their accts...why....scams..I presume.
Oh darn....too bad ..huh.....
This is not good for any of the things out there...folks scamming....gonna wreck if for all.
Just sharing.
Debbie
Just wanna listen to my Bee Gees..

You noticed that too? I have bought quite a few items here, but the rules on thread crapping and moderation in general are BRUTAL. I think thread crapping in general is actually encouraged on this site.

closing this thread since nothing has eventuated from communications by genuinely interested buyers.
if the seller really wants to/has the iPod to sell, then i'm sure he'll start another thread or he can always PM me to re-open.
but as mentioned previously, if you're going to string people along, then you're going to get responses accordingly!!

just to highlight a few things - if you do a search on zamboni78 on ebay, there is a user and he/she actually has a rating of 16 since feb'04, none of them as a seller.
this does not prove anything other than zamboni perhaps got a bit confused at to his ebay rating.....!
