ive been reading posts on this issue with the iPod and Windows98SE (which is the OS i currently use by the way) and it has come to my attention that USB does not work....and getting Firewire to work is a pain....well my question is this: Which Windows OS best supports usb and USB 2 with the iPod? this is a concern to me because i believe i would get much more use out of a USB2 card than a Firewire card since USB2 is backwards compatible with USB and everyone has usb it would be great if i could use the iPod as a mobile external drive that i could take to my friend's house.
What i have found from reading these posts is that everyone suggests to just buy a firewire card....in fact i would buy both firewire and usb (or a new motherboard with built in if i had the money at the moment) but i dont have enough PCI slots for both usb and firewire on my current machine.
I feel i would rather upgrade OS if that could solve my problem and i'm wondering if Windows 2000 would work....(i really dont like WindowsXP, its queer and i feel my 500MHz 192mb RAM wouldnt handle it too well, and again its queer)
If anyone can help inform me on anyway to get USB to work on Win98 that would be great that way i wouldnt have to upgrade...
