I am considering purchasing the E2c's but am wondering as to how careful I should be with them. Can i treat them the same way I do my stock buds with no ill effects or do they require a little more attention to stay in nice working order?
Thanks John

E2's have the nice thick cables and sturdy plastic housings; I wouldn't chuck them around, but they could handle being dropped onto a desk or into a drawer. Somewhere where the canal 'bits' are not likely to be severely crushed or somesuch, because that could cause breakage.

They are certainly the most durable earphones I have ever owned. They really feel like they are built to last.

They feel quite durable. The plastic seems very resiliant.

thanks for the feedback guys... I just ordered a pair from J&R for 69.95 plus 4.95 to ship... it really pays to give them a call and mention any other reatilers that offer the buds at lower prices, even if they are not an authorized retailer.

The earphones are durable, but because a substantial portion of them goes inside your ear, I would imagine you'd want to pay more attention to where the tips go.

I just got my E2's back from Shure, they were being repaired. The problem was the connection died in the cable at the stress relief near the jack. Be careful when storing them not to kink the cable sharply (as is pretty much required to put in the case they provide you with). That said, they've been excellent, and Shure's customer service is absolutely top notch. I could not be happier. Watch for my post in a few minutes about the customer service :)

That's interesting about the case. Personally, I think the Shure phones are very durable... I just wrap them around the ipod and I've never had a problem.

You may have a similar problem if you wrap too tightly around the 'pod. My recommendation is to make the first "wrap" kinda lose, and then do the rest as tight as you like. The later tight ones will keep the first looser one from coming off. Just don't put too much stress on the part near the jack (ie, don't bend it too sharp). The only reason I came up with this is I think I read about someone else on ipod lounge having problems with their E2's, which made me think of how I store them in the case.
I think I'll continue to use the case (I hate the idea of gunking up the buds and then sticking them in my ears!) but will just let the jack hang outside of the case.
