Hey all,

just purchased the iPod mini, and the earphones with them are rubbish. I'm not really into earbuds or have much knowledge on them so was wondering if you guys could help.

I've got around ??60 to spend (would prefer to spend like ??20-40) on the earphones and the main features I am wanting for them are. In US dollars thats $110 to spend max but I would prefer to spend something more like $50-60:

- Good Bass
- Sound Isolation
- Comfortable
- Look to match the iPod, not essential of course..

I have looked at Etymotic 61 Isolation earphones but they are way too expensives, also had a look at Shure E2C Sound Isolating Earphones.

Any suggestions people...

Sony EX71's, I picked up a pair from Curry's for ??35.

- Great bass
- In my opinion great isolation
- Very comfortable
- They can be purchased in White from http://ipodx.co.uk for around the same price

Well if $110 is your limit, then the Ety 6i really is in your price range. For another $15 or so you could choose between that and the Shure E3. And like you said, the Shure E2 is well within that range. So basically, I think you know all of your options already and it's just a matter of picking the phone you want at the price you're willing to pay.

Be aware that the Ety 6i and Shure E3 will both be a little weak in the bass department. I don't think the Shure E2 is that much stronger, but there is a difference.

Yeah. I think Shure E2c's should be the best bang for his buck.

??60 does not equate to $110 when it comes to actually buying things here in the UK. If a product is $110 in the US it's likely to be around ??80-90 here - so the Shure E3's are out of the question (over ??100 here...), as are the E2's from a decent retailer really. If you could stretch to about ??65-70 you could get E2's, which would be your best bet really. Other than that you're pretty much stuck with the EX71's.

You may also think about the Pioneer SE-CL30's, and these phones are comparable to EX71's. If you don't want the boomy bass, get the CL30's instead of EX71's.
