Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I just wondered, for those of you who purchase cds, do you keep the jewel cases, or do you throw them out?

I, myself, I throw them out - they take up too much room. I keep the jewel case insert and use the binders that you can buy that hold about 120. I have about 4 of those......

anyone else?

I used to do that, but then I found myself stuffing the CDs back in...They are better looking than albums, even if they do take up too much room. I think the album art just looks better behind that clear plastic as well.

I always keep my Jewel Cases, in my opinion they look stylish and cool. Take How The West Was Won by Led Zeppelin or Pulse by Pink Floyd, for instance, and you'll see what I mean. :)

I keep them. I paid good money for the cd, including all its artwork, and I don't plan on putting it to waste.

when you say insert does that include the back part or do you throw that away too?

Keep them to protect the investment. Sleeves and pockets scratch way too easy for my taste.

I throw most of them away and use CD cases. My CD's don't get scratched and I have been using them for years. I keep my CD's and some cases, like the cardboard sleeves and any special cases. But the regular jewel cases are garbage.

Although I do like iTunes Music Store, I think that buying an album is truly a great thing. It just seems to be more musicky (wrong word :p). So yeah, I keep them.

I currently throw the back insert out and keep the front cover/booklet.

I just bought 7 cds this past week....still have them in the jewel cases cuz I'm still debating....

I hope you never plan to sell them!

yes, i know the resale goes from possibly worthwhile to SUCK!

I haven't thrown them away yet......

They've already been ripped to pc and are sitting on the top shelf in my closet.

I rip my CDs as soon as I open them so most of them never see a CD player. I used to keep all of my jewel cases in a box, but I've since started tossing them.

I do keep the liner notes and whatnot - I'm in the process of covering one of the walls in my bedroom with CD jackets... bwahaha.

I keep the inserts and toss the jewel cases out. The only thing that I keep in jewel cases are CDs that I have made DJing. That's about it. I find that the jewel cases take up too much room like others in here feel. I keep my CDs in CaseLogic cases...

i think i have seen those in mags and so forth. they're cd holders that you can have on your wall for display? that's interesting, but unfortunatley i don't think 1) i would have enough wall space and 2) the wife would disapprove ;)

I keep the cases, liner notes, everything.

I once tried to save space and put a bunch of computer program CDs and backups into plastic binders with clear sleeves. After moving, storing them in a warm upstairs office and occasional use over two years' time, I noticed a cloudy film over many of them. Some wouldn't play. The film was in the exact pattern of the clear plastic sleeve which held the CDs, a honeycomb grid, so I knew what had caused it.

Immediately I took them out and put them into any jewel case I could find. I'll use the binder for short trips but never again for long-term storage.

I open the CD case, preferably as few times as possible. I get the CD out, rip it, hen, it goes back in the case, and the case goes onto a bookshelf for good. This preserves the value of the CD.

For me, the case and artwork is part of the whole experience. I definately keep it!

Well I know this is a older thread but with all the newer people here, thought it might be cool to find out what people do now adays. I am torn between using cd binders or just using the cd jewel cases. Either way I will keep my cases just in case but I thought about putting the cd's into binders and just storing the cases in boxes. Or I could burn a copy of the cd to a cd-r and just keep the original in the case inside said box. Or I thought maybe about putting them all on a bookcase I have, but don't know if that would look good or not. So what do you all do with your cases?

I picked up some CD/DVD sleeves from CompUSA. You can store 200 discs for only $15. I used them for all of my nearly 300 DVDs. One of my nightstands happens to be perfect for holding three rows of the sleeves.

I keep em. You never know when you might need them. Until I am really needing space, they are staying with me.
