Hi,

I am sure this question has been covered but couldn't find it with a search. I have a 40 GB hard drive (PC) and a 40 GB iPod. I would like to fill up my iPod and will need to delete the majority of songs I put on it off of my hard drive. I have done this successfully so far by deleting the actual file with Windows Explorer but leaving it in the list so that an exclamation mark is automatically placed on the left of the listing. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

Best Wishes,
David

Go into iTunes, and delete them through there. iTunes will say that these files are contained on your HD, and ask if you want to delete them. Say yes.

That's it. It will delete off your computer, out of the My Music folder on your HD, and off of iTunes.

I do this every time I import a new CD.

However, I have auto-sync enabled and so this way of doing it would inadvertently delete the songs of my iPod, correct? It has done this in the past, is there something I am overlooking?

Thanks.
