ipod question about deleteing songs

hi, i looked through the old forums but this is probably a very common question and yet i didn't see anything pertaining to this...haha...okay anyways my question:

i'm looking at ipods to buy and i was wondering can you delete songs and put new songs on there? or is it like once the songs are on the ipod you can't take them off and you end up using memory and stuff...this sounds stupid but i really don't know! thanks for reading/helping me

no shame in asking a simple question

once you restore or update an ipod (meaning run the software updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ depending on your platform) everything on the ipod gets erased and you can transfer what you want

deleting songs is also possible using itunes by simply selecting the song once the ipod is in the source list (left column) and right clicking "clear"
