Just curious - if I have my iPod set up with the 420i into my Alpine HU - should the iPod's EQ be set at flat? And let the HU do the eq'ing?

thanks.

I want to know why there is a "flat" EQ, when you can turn the EQ off. Off = 0, flat = 0. ???

all i know is when i compare CD to iPod the sound of the iPod through the HU is very bassy. Mids are lost and I'm not sure if its just because its in AAC format or if its something to do with the settings.

How do you "open" up the sound more? some songs are just way too bassy and need more mids...

BTTT, does the iPods EQ settings work while being hooked up tot he 420i?

if it is i probably need to turn the iPod EQ to flat as having it on hip hop plus my HU's EQ is making the overall sound too bassy... but am not sure if it matters...

you may want to turn the EQ off....

I have noticed that the iPod seems to put more bass into songs that they actually have, but it isn't THAT notacble.

I don't have the ipod Alpine adapter, but when plugged into the headphone jack of my ipod I set the Alpine to, MX on and MX-Movie Mode, and EQ to Rock, This makes it much clearer and bassier at the same time, it separates them nicely. I also set the ipod to flat with volume all the way. Oh also Im using a CDA-9831

OKANDROID, u are correct. I just did that and boy it sounds awesome now.

So the iPods EQ settings do come through - I set it to rock and adjusted the Alpine to my taste and no more extream boomy bass and it "opened" the songs up a lot more. But then again I have them ripped at Apple Lossless so...

thanks guys.

I really should re-rip my cds in aac. Right now there in VBR MP3 via EAC. But I don't want to take the time.
