My girlfriend has just bought a Mini Ipod as she has become increasingly jealous of my 20GB one but I have just realised that she is running Windows Me on her laptop.

I have just noticed that I-Tunes is not compatible with Windows Me so where do we go from here?

..........send the mini Ipod back or install Windows XP onto her laptop ?

I have had a little look on this site for some software that would transfer songs to her Ipod without having to use I-Tunes but havent found anything I think that will work.

She wants to put all her music cd's on her Mini Ipod so am I right in saying that she can use DBPower Amp to put her music Cd's onto her hard drive and then ..................... ?

How does she get them onto the mini ipod without I-Tunes ?

HELP

Email me if you would rather or just post a reply

Thanks Guys

I use Winamp 5 with iPod Plugin. Works OK.
You can use Ephpod or even the newest Real Player - iPod support becomes commodity nowadays...

There's only one catch - initializing new iPod without Apple software is very hard. I recommend you to install original iPod software on somebody else Windows XP/2000, initialize iPod, set sync to manual and uninstall software.

Actually look for a thread in Problems. You do not need XP or W2K. When you started updater, it will extract some executable in temporary directory. Take this executable out of temp and run. It will do job without hesitation.

The FAQ entry titled "How to Setup an iPod Using Windows 98SE & ME" should help. Here's a link to it:

That thread is very old and doesn't include information about 4G iPod which won't run with procedure from it.
