That's how they are designed. The long cord is designed to go back around your neck. It's stupid if you ask me, but some people like it.

Yea,the 71's Ive got (They're broke right now) are made the same way and It drives me crazy,I was thinking about getting some Shures around christmas though.

My friend uses electric tape to get the chords the same length.
