Hi, I noticed that some people just pop of the dock cover so they can use it with their iskins. With a little tweaking..cutting the dock cover in half and some foam tape...

I just used a flat-ended screwdriver and a hammer, make sure that you position it in a way where you can still snap it back to the base

That is a sweet idea. If I ever get a skin, I am going to buy an extra dock and do that.

hmm, i just got a dock off on ebay, and when i popped open the top case, there were copper foil on it and it doesn't look like your picture. is this the real apple dock or did i get an imitation?

ok cool, thanks i just wanted to make sure.
now my ipod fits with the skin on it, but i don't think the connector is going in the ipod FULLY. It just feels like it but my computer does recognizes the ipod. but you know, its like a electrical plug still working when its not plugged in fully...is this bad or am i just being too careful? thanks again.

my ipod dock came with my 3rd gen 20gb ipod. it also has the copper on the inside, so you dont have a cheap knock-off or anything.
although, apple may have updated the interior design of the docks for the 4th gen ipods.

ok, i got this dock up and running, but i gotta push the ipod in to make it connect and i still think the connector is not fully going into the ipod, but it does connect. i took this idea from someone here on the forums forgot who, but thanks to that person :)

How did you end up modifying it? From the picture, it hardly looks like anything's even been done to it, so I'd say that's an excellent job.

so i took the casing off, and cut the whole bottom part out...otherwise the iskin i have is too thick so it wouldn't go in all the way. even now, i have to sorta push it in to make it connect. and then just used a dremel to make the oval hole a little bit bigger. that was it :)

I think I'm going to do this to my Photo Dock when it gets here. Brisk, how did you handle the little flap that protects the dock port on the iSkin? Did you cut it off?

cutting the plastic case is difficult to do without totally damaging it. additionally, you really need to remove the metal part of the dock if you want the iskin to fit correctly. i suggest moving the white plastic, the metal, and then making your OWN dock cover. this way you're not destroying the original one and you can always replace it if you want to resell your dock or use it for a naked ipod.

Well my iPod photo dock is coming with two covers, one for the 30/40GB size and one for 60GB. I'm just going to mess with the 60GB cover. I'm not really worried about being able to sell it.
