Hi,

I have searched the forums but couldn't find any similar problems. Either I am blind or unlucky ;)

My 20GB 4G iPod seems to have a large appetite for tunes! I have over 4,000 tracks on there which iTunes reckon are around 18.3GB.

However, when I click 'Extras - About' on the iPod, it reports 18.5GB drive - 12.9GB available.

This available space has not changed during the last few syncs despite several albums getting added. So no, I haven't got a one off 40GB drive shoehorned into a 20GB case. :( ;)

Firmware - 3.0.1
Model - M9282B

Any one else seen this, anyone got a fix and does it really matter?!

Welcome to iPodlounge!

We have an FAQ which documents this issue:
I've loaded a bunch of music on my iPod, but the Available Indicator is still showing that I have gigs of space left? (http://www.ipodlounge.com/faqs_more.php?id=1612_0_10_0_C)

I also have the same problem, my 40gb 3rd Gen iPod is completely full with only 20 Mega available and on About it tells me that 37.1 isstill available. Impossible when 37.1 is the capacity of a 40gb. a buddy of mine also had the same problemwith a 20gb 4th gen. really strange.
