Install on Alpine CDA-9811

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I'm starting out new on this thing, and have no idea what to do. What I have is an Alpine CDA-9811 deck in my 2002 Ford Ranger. I want to hardwire my new iPod into it. If possible I want it to go through the firewire cable (the big end) that plugs into the bottom rather than the headphone slot on top. So somehow I need to convert the firewire to RCA. Can I do this myself or is there something I need to buy? Has anyone made this cord themselves? I would also like to know if I can charge the iPod through the firewire cord, or if I need to get a 12-volt charger for the cigarette lighter.
