I have been using this method
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
to put my iPod in Disk mode

I use it to transfer files from work to home. but today, I can't get my PC at work to recognize it. When I go into disk mode, the ipod screen says "ok to disconnect" before it is connected to anything. If I plug into USB port, the ipod screen says "do not disconnect" and my PC cannot see it.

So I have to reset it and unplug it. I have been resetting and trying this all day. any tips?

I do not have iTunes at work, so I can't change any of those settings. I am using a 4G 20GB HP iPod, windows XP Pro

also, when I do unplug it from the USB connection, it still says "ok to disconnect" and does not power off unless I reset it

thanks

Yeah, join the club. Did you install SP2? I have the same problem. At work, I put some files on there, but at home I can't get the damned thing recognized. I don't get it.

Well, I suspect SP2 may have something to do with it. Mine has never been the same since then. It drives me nuts.... sorry I don't have any suggestions.
