I have not actually used these, but if I were in the market for portable headphones I would probably check out the Sennheiser PX100/200's. I have tried and used several other Sennheiser headphones, and in fact I own a pair as well currently, and I like the Sennheiser sound. These are, I think, more attractive than the PortaPros and reviews on the sound have generally been good. I can't tell you what they sound like personally, since I haven't ever tried them myself (unfortunately) but I would recommend for you to check them out. Look at Headroom for a little blurb review and general info on these, and I think head-fi will probably have some excellent insight on how these two sound.

Let us know what you ended up choosing when you do decide to get something (even if you get something other than the Senns). While I'm happy using canalphones, it's always good to know what small portable headphones are out there, in case I ever get tired of using canalphones or big closed headphones :)

i have the senn px200s. i like 'em. they're good for smaller ears. i switch between those and the sony ex71s-the smallest fitting. i believe i got both sets from ecost.com. i think.
anyway, for my needs both of those are small enough, with enough sound and just enough isolation. though if i want to be totally isolated i go for the sonys. i prefer the sound of the senns.
hope this helps.

i bought the px-200. waiting for them to arrive from ecost.
hope they'll make the 'lil lady happy..... she hated the sony ex71's ... hated the rubbing of the wires and the stethescope effect.

hmm. she got the stethoscope even though the cords go down the back? oh i know what you mean, the "i can hear every major system in my body functioning" thing. i was initially thinking it was the "is this thing on? live mike" experience. i must warn, with the senns, you can get the latter when something comes in contact with the headband (for lack of a better word). overall they're good. i just prefer the sonys when i'm lying down to sleep.
hope she loves 'em.
