Subaru Outback Solution?

Howdy,
I just got a 2002 Subaru Outback and am interested in installing a new stereo that will work with my iPod. Trouble is...all of the in-deck cd players I have looked at won't fit into the car. I was curious to see if anyone out there could recommend a player that would be worth looking at!

I'm not familiar with Outbacks so could explain how the factory HU mounts?

As far as the best HU's for use with the iPod your best choice at the moment is any 2004 Alpine HU with Ai-Net connections/ controls and Alpine's KCA 420i interface adaptor.

It allows an iPod to be connected and controlled directly from the HU with the access to the iPod not being necessary. Actually the iPod's own controls become disabled while attached anyhow.
