Question on updating ipod

Hi this is my first post on here so be gentle with me, sorry if this has already been covered but I can't find a straight answer to my question anywhere, even in my ipod for Dummies book!!

If I delete all my CD collection off my PC (as it's full way before my ipod is!) and then decide that I want to add a new CD to my ipod by updating manually, will this wipe off every thing that is on my ipod because it's on longer on my PC?
