Which are more comfortable, Shure E3c earphones or the Ety 6i?

The comfort of a universal fit canalphone is highly dependent on the tip you use. The gray flex sleeves of the E3c, in my opinion, are clearly the most comfortable. So in that respect, if comfort is the top priority go with the E3c.

The 6i's use either tri flanges or foamies, and the E3c also has both of those options. I personally use the tri flanges on my E3c. They're pretty comfortable once you get used to them and I like the sound and isolation they provide. So honestly, there's probably very little difference in comfort, with a slight edge to the E3c.

I read some weird stuff about the wire having to go around the ear or something? is that true?

Yeah you have to drape the wire over the back of your ear. This helps them stay in your ear, as the Shures have a pretty heavy cord.

No the Ety's don't work like that. But don't look at it as a bad thing... it's much better for a few reasons. First, draping them over the ear helps keep them secure because the weight of the wire or anything the might occasionally pull on it will not pull out the phones. Secondly, the cord around the ear really helps reduce microphonics as the ear will supress most of the vibration travelling up the cord. I thought it was odd at first, too, but it's really much much better and it's not awkward at all.

I have the E2's and I much prefer the over the ear design. It keeps them on much better and is very comfortable.
