After I got my system jacked from my car ive replaced everything buy my charger. I used to have the belkin, which I loved, but the monster also looks really nice too. I was wondering which is better, in sound mostly, and other aspects. I would get the new alpine connector but I don't have 100 bucks to spend on that right now.

hi, I have a monster icarplay and am pleased with the results, as well as the design.

In terms of sound is any one of these two better?

you would have to buy both and return the one you feel is inferior - don't know if anyone has done a side by side test

I just ordered the Monster for my car, what do you use to hold the ipod itself?

Most places won't take it back unless it hasn't been opened, anyone know where would? I like the smallness of the Monster but I also like the white of the belkin,

the main reason I went with the belkin over the monster is that the line out on the belkin is on the part that plugs into you're car, but the line out on the monster is on the part you plug into the ipod. That makes for too much of a wiring mess for me.....

If you perform the line-out modification to the belking (VERY simple), then the sound quality will be the same (well, not exactly the same, but you won't be able to hear the difference)

Oh i though the connector for line out was on the main unit not the dock connector. That may cement the belkin for me. Where is the link for the line out connection?

The Monster has a line-out on it? I didn't realize that.

yep, their ultra low profile one does.

straight from the product description page: Mini-jack line output on dock connector for fast, easy connection to cassette adapters or car stereo systems.

I have both the belkin and the monster with line-out capabilities and I have to say that though the belkin may be more convenient because the line-out is on the plug rather than the ipod end but the monster sounds better in my car anyway. The belkin sounds tinny/buzzy for some reason. Maybe I need the ground loop isolator. But why wouldn't I need one for the monster as well?

I have both. The amp in the Belkin ruins the sound. The monster has a much larger connector though and I find my thick cables pull the connector a little bit.

I have the monster with the line out and bought the monster THX RCA-to-mini cable. This cable has a 90 degree bend in the mini plug, making the cable lay flat against the edge of the monster's charger dock connector.

Very clean install.

Now if that monster cables' cable wasn't coiled, makes it hard to hide under the dash.

I just noticed that both my Monster and Belkin are not sending full sound to the passenger side speakers. This occurs whether plugged in to line-out or the headphone jack. If I pull the jack out of the line out just a little I get full sound out of both speakers. Does anyone else have this problem?
