noise while playing 320kbps mp3's

I just got a 20G Ipod, and am running v1.3 on it. My mp3's were all ripped using Itunes at 320kbps VBR. When playing them on the Ipod I occaisonly notice some introduced "noise" that I don't hear when playing them on my G4.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I remember this issue coming up on the old boards. A few users have noticed, and the theory was batted about that perhaps the iPod couldn't handle the volume of information in a 320k mp3.
