Selling 2g ipod--how do I wipe off my songs?

I apologize if this is a frequent question, but when I try searching the forums, I get a strange error message.

I've just bought a 4gen Ipod and want to sell my faithful-yet-full 2gen Ipod. Is there a way to format/wipe my old Ipod without plugging it into the computer? If I do have to plug it in to my computer (XP), should I just reformat the drive or do I need to format it via ITunes?

Just install the latest iPod software from Apple, and then click restore, and it will delete all of the songs. You have to have the iPod hooked up to the computer to do this procedure though.
