ITunes 4.6 on Windows is working fine. Now I got an iPod mini, updated it with the newest software and connected it via USB to my Compaq Evo N620c laptop.

The iPod shows up as a hard drive on windows and I can copy files via Explorer. It also shows up in iTunes, but when I try to drag a file to it, it says "copying file" briefly but nothing happens! The music doesn't show up on the iPod and capacity doesn't decrease no matter if it's a bought file from the ITMS or a ripped mp3. When trying to transfer the file the iPod shows a spinning icon briefly but it disappears again after a second.

So, the iPod is connected and recognized correctly, iTunes handles it normally, just transfering the files doesn't work at all (no error message either).

Having an iPod without music on it is not really fun, any ideas?

Thanks!

-Do you have the iPod set to auto update or is it set to manually mange songs and playlists?
-Are you trying to put the songs onto the iPod's HD via the drag-n-drop into the music folder?
-What version is the software on the iPod? Go to settings>about and see.

- Auto or manually makes no difference. With auto-update it says briefly "Transfering 1375 files..." finishes within a second

- I'm using iTunes to transfer the music. Drag to iPod or auto-update. Both doesn't work.

- Don't have it here right now, but I've updated the iPod with the newest Updater from the Apple-website and use the latest iTunes-Version (4.6). Tried reinstalling both. Same results.

iTunes seems to think the transfer works. It says "transfering" briefly, and the iPod shows a "spinning wheel" for a second. But nothing gets actually transfered. iPod has no songs on it. The USB-connection definitely works, I can copy files via Explorer to the iPod, but that doesn't help for getting music on it...

I'm totally out of ideas now...

Just for the record: After reinstalling, updating and trying everything else a million times, I finally found the error...

My whole "My Documents"-folder is encrypted, causing iTunes to not transfer the files and fail silently. No error message, no mentioning of this issue in the manual! :-(

After decrypting my music-folder it's working now...
