Alpine using KCM-122B aux input not working...

I have a Alpine CDM-7854 and just purchased the KCM-122B aux input cable that goes from the CD changer jack and has two RCA outputs on the other end. KCM-122B at Crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YSWkvydwdhX/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?a=0&s=0&cc=01&g=50900&id=ways_to_save&i=500KCM122B) . I purchased a RCA to 1/8" jack connector cable from Radio Shack and attached the RCA's (red to red, white to white) and then the 1/8" jack to the headphone output on my Gen 2 20GB iPod. I put my tuner to AUX but am not getting any sound. I have tried serveal times and even tested the Radio Shack cord with anoter one I had and still no dice. Anyone have any suggestions. My manual says that the KCM-122B cable should work for my model.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Trying running setup on your head unit to make sure you have aux enabled.
