Hi - new mini owner, and new to the forum.

Just a quick question bundle regarding buying the remote for the mini...

How many have done it / think its worth the cost?
Is the mini compatible with older 3G remotes?
Can the remote be used with different 'phones ?(i.e. does it have a pass thru mini jack)
Are the 'phones that come with the remote any better than those that come with the mini?

Apologies if it is deemed this post should have been in the headphones forum.

I don't think a remote for my mini is worth the money. It all really depends on what you purchased your mini for. For me, I purchased it as a work out and at work listening player. For that reason, I do not need a remote for my mini.

The mini remote/headphones are the same ones as the 3G.
I do believe the remote can be used with any headphones.
They are the same headphones that came with the mini.

It is a bit expensive, but if its worth it to you then go for it.

I think the remote is quite expensive, however I did get myself one. I ride my bike a lot and need to be able to change volume or track quickly without having to find my ipod which is somewhere in my bag. So even though it is quite expensive, I am glad I got it because I'm getting good use out of it.

I got the remote and didn't realise it was actully metal. It is very nice to hold and feels solid. Bit expensive at ??30 mind, and why it came with another pair of Apple ear buds is beyond me - I'd rather they'd knocked a tenner off the price.
I now have two unused pairs of Apple ear buds.

I don't have one, but I want one. I listen to my iPod as I walk, and keep the iPod in my pocket. Obviously there are are volume differences in my songs, so I need to adjust accordingly. I'd just clip the remote to my backpack strap and jam.

iit really waste my money on the remote control... czu the earphone alone already too long and plus a remote control is like 3feet long.. so i'm not recommend it..

I use this. I put my mini on my waist belt and change songs/adjust volume with the wireless remote from my pockets.

the availability of a remote for the iPod was a definate selling point for me. It's important for me to be able to change volume/skip songs on the fly, without the hassle of taking my iPod out of my pocket or backpack.

edit: and I'm glad it came with another set of headphones; I dropped the original pair, and it developed a buzzing sound.

only one bad point for all the current ipod remotes

THERE IS NO LCD DISPLAY

the whole point of me getting a remote would be so that no one saw my ipod

apart from that its good
