change apple logo

1) You can not change the Apple Logo it's part of the real Firmware (i.e. Chip non-HDD), I know lots of People love to refer to what is essentially an OS (Operating System) The stuff that gets written to the HDD when you Update & Restore your iPod as 'Firmware', if that's so then Windows (or Mac OSX), are also Firmware by difenation. Perhaps I'm the As$hole here but, Firmware to ->me<- has always had to do with Flashing Chips, and to change the Logo you'd have to access to that Firmware and the abblitiy to access it. An OS update does not a Firmware make folks!

Um, I'm pretty sure the Linux-on-iPod folks changed the start up screen.

No they didn't the Apple Logo is still there! (I know from what I speak as I did try this out on my iPod). What the Linux on iPod People were able to do is import and Playback .jpg's on the iPod Screen. Beit Tux to Pictures of 'Counter-Strike' non of this stuff ever reached what this pundent would ever call a layer of Firmware. Besides IIRC you hav to run a key-sequence at the Apple Logo to even run Linux on iPod....
