Just thought this'd be interesting... I haven't played a CD in the old way in months!

Hehe, the only thing that I've used a CD for in the last couple of years (more so since I got my iPod) has been to rip them into MP3!

My roomate still uses CDs in the car though... when I'm not there with my iPod, that is. :D

I have too many CDs to rip and not enough time to do it, and not enough hard-drive space for all of them.

So, at home, I will usually listen the CDs

Max.

I buy CDs, but only ever play them a few times after that. Mainly listen to mp3s once I convert them.

If I had OTG playlists and playques, I wouldn't need to use my cd's.

I still do it once in awhile when the radio is overplaying music.

I am in the process of ripping all of my CD's. It is a large collection (over 400+) so it is going to take a while. My goal is to use the iPod as my main music source. As I buy new CD's, they will be ripped into the my iTunes collection.

Me too, and today, I was at the store, looking to buy a couple of CDs, and for the first time in a while, I hesitated! but I bought the 2 CDs anyway, because I was pretty sure the music not on the apple store yet.

But those 2 CDs are already ripped and will be transfer on the iPod soon, and the CDs will go in the collection to be played less and less often.

Max.

Not only have I stopped using CD's, but I have moved all my listening to iPod. I have a dock at my computer and a dock at my stereo. I plug it into my car. It is so cool to have all my music with me wherever I go. I do occationally listen to AM radio, however.

So there, I still use cds... And plus, as soon as my Ipod arrives (1 to 2 more weeks from dell) I will still use cds, because I have a cd changer in my room and its alreay set up with my stero...so why bother? Only on the go would I not use cds. Plus, cds are great because they are collectable... I can't imagine a day when ALL music is intangible data, I mean cds have sentimental value...well at least I think so...I mean, cds (and the cases too!) act as collectable items (just like the Pokemon cards and Gundam action models that I own, oh wait...yeah...maybe...I...nevermind)

I still listen to cd's most of the time in my car, I have an mp3 pioneer player with an aux for the ipod, but where I work ( a prison) I have nowhere to put the ipod while there and don't want to leave it in my car for 8 hrs. I know it would probably be fine in the glovebox or something but just don't want to leave it in the hot car in the summer and cold in the winter. If only we could have our own lockers!!! I Never listen to cd's at home though. My pod sounds great hooked up to a pair of yamaha computer speakers with a sub.

For about a year now, I buy my CDs, rip them, then stack the CDs in the cd rack.

I'm always at my computer, and i've got a few harddrives dedicated to music. So my computer acts as my jukebox of sorts.

Now that i have the ipod, it'll be a nice accessory for a big nerd like myself ;)

I have two hard drives. 1 160gig IBM hard drive for windows operating system and all my programs, then a second (80gig seagate barracuda) soley for storing my music and video files. The advantage of putting all your media on one drive is that when you format your pc, you don't loose your media files

was when I wanted to make a side by side comparison of all the various formats so I could make a decision on what i wanted to store on my HD. After narrowing it down to AAC and the original from CD I decided that I would copy the CDs to my HD as .aiff with no compression and then make an AAC copy to use on my iPod. Now I have 2 copies of each CD I own. I listen to the .aiff copy at home an the the AAC copy on the iPod. I see that Lacie has a 500 GB Firewire HD. I'll probably have to get one soon. One nice thing about ripping with no compression is that you can get 20x plus speeds (on my machine). Probably faster on a new computer.

i'm still not used to just listening to mp3s. I still buy cds (and then rip them to my mac right after i'm done listening to the cd once). I just bought a cd 2 days ago, listened to it, ripped it. but its still in my cd player, i'll listen to it from the cd once in a while....

I'm always listening to iTunes when I'm at my computer, and when I'm away from my computer I'm listening to my iPod. The only time I really listen to CD's anymore is right when I get a new CD (note: I still refuse to buy from iTunes), or when I'm in the shower using my shower cd player.

I still use Cd's in my main stereo system. I tried the line out into my receiver and the 160 AAC's sounded like crap. iPod is OK with the earbuds, I guess huge files would give better sond, but then what would be the point?

I copied all my CDs to my hard drive without compression. My sound card delivers the optical digital signal to my surround sound amp. You can use your computer as a high quality jukebox.

CD's? What are CD's?

I saw a picture of one once. It looks like it would make a good coaster. Or maybe tile for the bathroom floor.

It took me over a month to rip my over 2000 CDs to MP3. I still buy them (seems it's a habit I cannot break - and I don't want to buy a lossy format from iTunes) but rip them immediately and sync them to my iPod. I carry the iPod whereever I go and even got it mounted in my truck so I can listen through the stereo (too dangerous driving with headphones). I love having the entire soundtrack of my life at my fingertips. I have only listened to one CD since I got the iPod, and it was on the way home from Best Buy. I ripped it and put it away before I even listened to the whole thing...

I don't even have an iPod yet and I hardly listen to CD's. A few favorites are permanent in my little CD folder for travel from and to school.. but if my iBook is on it's iTunes all the way. Actually I am rediscovering my music collection by preparing for the iPod by ripping everything to AAC.... Great!!

I rip my CDs onto my computer then plug in my iPod and that's that....CD goes into long term storage.

I still play my cds a lot. I dont like carrying my ipod throughout the house so Ill usually only use it when I go out. I go out enough believe me. Thinking about getting a larger capacity disc changer, 5 just isnt enough for me. Bluedawg since you're so eager to get rid of your collection want to send them over to me?
