One seldom used feature on CDs is the indexing feature to subdivide long tracks. It is occasionally used in long classical pieces. An example is the Glenn Gould 1981 Goldberg Variations that is recorded as one hour long track with indices dividing the variations. Most recordings have each variation as a different track. When comparing two recordings, it would be helpful to me to be able to split the giant track into its component bits as separate MP3s.

Any cd ripper software that will allow this? I suppose I could also use a wave editor and make the breaks manually.

thanks................

I often use a wave editor (ACL) to add "track breaks" in long tracks, or reverse to remove annoying gaps created when I rip a CD to mp3. That's the catch, you'll divide the track, but have an audible gap between each piece - editor is not the option for what (I think) you're trying to do.
