Me too - same error. Perhaps there's a problem with Gracenote's servers right now? I only just installed iTunes today, and thought it might be that I'm behing a hardware firewall or something. I connect to the 'net through a Smoothwall firewall box, the other side of which is a cable modem, so I am permanently 'net-connected. All my other 'net apps, includoing those that use CDDB, work fine, although its possible those other CDDB apps don't use Gracenote's server.

What are your network configs like? Let's try and identify if its just us or not...

yan

P.S. Apple's support forum has a similar thread that is very current - looks like it might not be our problem! Check: http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?14@177.XnCAaO5Xwfd.0@.689a51f6

Seems that its only us rookies having this problem! I have uploaded over 1000 songs in the past week and now it starts acting all crazy!!!

When I had the problem I found out it had to do with a dial up program for boosting speed(mine was called web jet). You can either delete the booster or search your computer's regedit files and delete the CDDB file under the H_KEYuser. This file regenerates everytime you try CDDB and get screwed each time you go offline.

Some CD's i have are working, but some stuff i already have in memory isn't being updated! I downloaded Bit Torrent yesterday. I wonder if that had something to do with it?

I started to have problems today too. My problems started after I downloaded the Windows XP Service Pack 2. Is there a way I can definitely find out if it is a problem with CDDB's server and not my computer?

Found this on Apple's forums.

Thank you for writing us. Yes, there appears to be an issue with the service. We're aware of it, and working to resolve it quickly. We should be up and running again shortly, though I do not have an exact estimate on the timing.

Please try again at the end of the day.

Regards,
