Warning about Showcase shipped to Canada

I just recieved my brand new Showcase 4G iPod case, and a nice bill from UPS for $37.00 for duties, COD, and release fees. I called contour about this as they only offer 1 shipping meathod on their site. Be VERY careful about buying from them if you do not reside in the States. I paid more to have it delivered that the damn thing is worth. They didn't seem to sympathetic either at UPS, or Contour Designs.

The bottom line is: if you're buying stuff in the US, DEMAND that it's not shipped UPS. FedEx is always a better choice.

You really only paid 7-8 dollars for duties, if that. At least 25 dollars are what UPS charges you under the term "brokerage fees".

It's ridiculous.

Find someone you know in the US, have it sent to them, and have them send it via USPS to Canada as a 'gift'. As it is under $50 bucks, and technically IS a gift, it is EXEMPT from tax and duty.

USPS is the absolute best cross border.

even if you are charged on USPS, they only charge $5 brokerage fee and whatever sales taxes apply in your province.

I've got my fingers crossed because i have a Speck skin 3 pack coming my way via Fedex...never had anything cross border recieved from them before.

I'm lucky in only 18 minutes drivingfrom my home, I'm in Canada, so i have a PO Box in N.Y. state, i can get without any duties, i only pay TPS and GST. The customs at U.S. borther, said both of them:"My child have an ipod and exoskin" They told me the exoskin is very protective and attractive. Also its not thick like cases. I'm awaiting to receive mine, color indigo. My wife told me not to buy fluorescent one, that would look like a toy! I think the same as her. She told me not Rose color, because, they would treat me as a feminine! So indigo is the nicest color for a man.
