I've had my 3G 40gig ipod for almost a year now and have had little problems with it up until now. Starting today I am unable to sync it with Itunes. I use a laptop with a 4pin firewire connection. It had been working fine and the last time I synced it was just before the labor day weekend. Now when I try and sync it it just gets stuck on "Do not disconnect" I've tried reinstalling all the software without any luck. Strangely enough windows recognizes the ipod and it shows up under My Computer as another drive. Ipod updater can't seem to find though and it just gets hung up when I try. I noticed my harddrive acting up while trying to sync so I took a peek at the processes running and noticed that svchost.exe seems to continuously run while trying to make the connection (almost like it's caught in some kind of infinite loop). IpodService remains at 0% cpu usage. If I kill the svchost.exe a few moments later IpodService starts running and Itunes starts up and I get synched up. Of course killing svchost.exe does all sorts of strange things to windows. Anyone have any suggestions or know what the hell's going?
