ipod keeps saying "ok to disconnect"

I did a search on this topic, but everyone that is having this problem, seems to be on a windows computer. I am on a mac and so i really need someones help.

whenever i connect my ipod(1gen 5 gig) to my computer(15 inch powerbook), the ipod gets the apple sign on the screen and then automatically goes to the "ok to disconnect" screen. it is really bugging me because my ipod has never done that to me before.

could someone please tell me if they have had that problem and what they did to resolve it.

When you plug it in it says ok to disco?

Are you on 10.3? Does it mount in iTunes/Finder? Tried I presume a reset?

yes to all of those, and still it doesnt do anything. i took it to the apple store yesterday, and they said that it wouldnt go into disk mode.

I am having the same problem with my 10GB, it is MAC, I tried to run the latest update on it and it ended up just like yours. I just wanted to know if that is what killed your iPod? I posted my problem in the General iPod problems, I gave the whole story there.
