A lot of the case manufacturers still need to catch up with the 4G. In your situation you could be looking at the Contour Showcase, it's a rigid case that isn't too bulky.

iSkin's are nice for normal use but don't offer too much protection,

For the ultimate in leather go with Vaja,

Mmmmm, nice. :)
Just some suggestions to be going on with.

How well will the I-skins protect the Ipod from a drop? My cousin has the case that comes with the 3g ipod and that one seems to work great. He dropped it on rough pavement and it still works good as new. I was thinking about getting that one but I dont like how there is no access to the click wheel or the screen. Any hardcases that people really like?

I have the Countour Showcase as my everyday case. If you never use the belt clip, then it is the perfect. It is positioned horizontally and is more comofrtable than the "vertical" cases in that it doesn't severly jab you in the stomach when in a sitting position. However, it does provide some discomfort. When I go cycling, I use the Incase belt. This isn't the exact name, but it's like a fanny pack, but just large enough to fit an Ipod, iRiver, Zen Touch, etc. Once connected, you can position it anywhere (front, back, etc.) on your waist. Positioning it on your back helps keep the headphone cords out of the way and is the most comfortable way to wear it when riding. It is also much more secure than using a belt-clip when riding. Fair warning though, it can scratch the Ipod, though not severely. Just my jumbled 2 cents!

I have just got the ipod armour for my 20GB 4G and it is great really sturdy, however if you need access to the conrols it is not easy to get to them.

I went to my nearest Apple Reseller and I found a case from incase that is very nice. The belt clip is very sturdy so it won't come off and its leather.
